This World Vintage series feature brought me to Rochester, New York last month. I was in town participating in a location martial arts event for the weekend and I only had a few hours on my last day to check out some of Rochester's vintage scene before my flight back to Chicago. I spent some time at JANE Vintage and Record Archive and also made an online purchase from Predisposed Vintage.
Deluxe Redux met Beth Roberts, owner and operator of JANE Vintage, located in Rochester's historic South Wedge neighborhood. JANE Vintage offers vintage clothing and accessories for men and women from the 1950s through the 1980s with a heavy concentration of 1960s and 1970s vintage. JANE Vintage is closed on Sundays, so I was so grateful when Beth agreed to meet with me during off hours.
Beth named JANE Vintage in honor of Beth's Grandmother, known for being a collector with impeccable taste who always dressed in timeless ensembles. Both Beth and Beth's mother were also given Jane as their middle name.
Beth had a small online vintage presence on Etsy when she decided to leave her corporate environment to open her own business. She purchased an existing vintage fashion retail store in June 2015 under a different name and moved to her current location in June 2016.
Beth recently announced on social media that JANE Vintage is going mobile. As she transitions this month, the JANE Vintage vintage collection will be available exclusively at pop-up events in Rochester, on Instagram, and on Etsy.

Deluxe Redux came across Record Archive through my internet research of Rochester vintage stores. Record Archive is a mecca of music and entertainment in business since 1975. With over 250,000 new and vintage LP records and over 60,000 45s, Record Archive offers the largest vinyl selection in the North East.
Record Archive also offers collectible gifts and toys, vintage clothing, t-shirts, audio equipment and movies. Music and movies are available on new and used CDs, DVDs, cassettes, 8 track tapes, 78s, laser discs and VHS. They present art exhibitions and live band performances on a regular basis.
Record Archive sells their products online on Amazon and Ebay as well via their partner Discogs. Record Archive's vintage clothing is a privately curated collection. However, they do purchase vintage furniture, music memorabilia and collectible toys from interested sellers.
This store is seriously one of those places you can get lost in for hours. I scored a vintage Debbie Harry/David Bowie t-shirt and a fabulous Whiting & Davis gold-toned belt.

Deluxe Redux was in contact with Scott Randall while in Rochester. Scott is the owner of Predisposed Vintage, an online vintage clothing store specializing in vintage t-shirts. He has been in business since 2012 with the goal of opening up a retail storefront in his hometown of Rochester, NY. The company website lists hundreds of vintage t-shirts of bands, sports teams, schools, musicians, geographic locations, and pop culture with detailed descriptions and photos.
