Open Secret Studios, a transformative event space in the West Loop, Chicago, is closing its doors by the end of May. Over the last four years, art and humanitarian organizations have hosted events at the space and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for causes such as human trafficking, homelessness, ALS, art programs, classical music, and dance performance.
As the doors to the event space are closing, Evelyn Daitchman, event director and vintage fashion retailer, is holding a 3-day moving sale featuring her vintage collection of men’s and women’s fashion, furniture and interior décor. She has curated pieces since the 1980s from years of travel and life in New York.
Evelyn gave me a tour of her inventory which includes well-organized vintage items ranging from excellent to mint condition, fair pricing, and styles to accommodate a spectrum of taste. The vintage collection includes dresses, blouses, skirts, coats, jackets, sweaters, kimonos, accessories, purses, jewelry, fur pieces and shoes.
Evelyn will also be offering for sale photo equipment, projectors, lighting, furniture, frames, ceramic and glass pieces, kitchenware and textiles from Japan, India, Europe and the US. Items will be marked down from their regular retail price.
Other featured items include a Garland stove (10 burners, 2 ovens and a salamander broiler), a 1930’s 15-foot Marshall Fields wooden cabinet with sliding glass doors and a human size dollhouse that stands over 6-feet on supported stilted legs.
